The Black Forest, found in Germany's South Western regions, is famed for its fairy tales, with the impenteratable woodland said to inspire the tales of the Brothers Grimm. It's also celebrated for its fruit liqueurs, with the native morello cherries used to make kirsch – a type of local cherry brandy.
Monkey 47 honours this history, including native Black Forest fruits and herbs in the gin's botanical recipe. Combined with English distilling tradition, and a selection Asian botanicals, the result is a gin of astonishingly complexity and depth.

Rich and complex on the nose, but everything in balance. There’s zesty lime peel, fragrant raspberries, fresh-cut flowers and plenty of fresh pine cones. With time sweet orange notes develop.
There’s no subtlety here, orange sherbet tingles with a big bold herbaceous body. Sage, chopped mint and rosemary merge perfectly with a little juniper, while a little honeysuckle appears fleetingly.
